Sticks for cats

The other day I passed the asparagus bed and saw that a number of sticks had been randomly
placed on top of the soil, just next to the asparagus spears. I was wondering wether the Head
Gardener had gone a bit loopy; well, more loopy than normal. However, then I remembered that we have had cats thinking that some of our raised beds remind them of their litter trays. So the idea to make
the surface less inviting might work - I guess a dog would just dig around the sticks, and therefore remove them, whereas a cat would maybe be too lazy to even 'go there', and just walk past this bed. We shall see.
