Ceanothus - hedging our bets

We have a dream! Or rather: we have a plan. To create a hedge made out of ceanothus plants, in the front of the garden. We planted a bush which has grown quite a bit (must take a photograph to share soon!), and the HG has quietly taken a couple of cuttings which are getting there:

3 cuttings of ceanothus (behind the beans), May 2014
These are supposed to be used in the spot below, but first we need to clean most of the irises away from there.
Front garden, near drive, April/May 2014
Even though the above with purple flowers of irises might look stunning or impressive to some of you, and some passers-by, most of the year the foliage of the irises is just plain boring.... Turning this - with our own cuttings - into a ceanothus hedge will probably take a couple of years. A nice project to monitor, and I will try to remember to document it here.
