Bean there, done that - bean wigwams

Beans with wigwams, May 2014 (widened veg bed)
This shows our widened and lengthened vegetable bed - just finished this, and already it houses three wigwam-structures for borlotti beans and French beans. We will also be able to throw a bit of manure on this bed and near these plants and then everything will be growing nicely.

For those with a sharp eye-sight:
Note 1: the slabs on the left-hand side are probably a temporary measure; I just didn't want to have to mow the lawn there.

Note 2: the scrap of cardboard (see bottom bit of photo is a fragment of what was covering most of the narrower vegetable patch, and before squirells and pigeons hacked it apart... It will soon be covered in manure, or plants, or end up in the compost.

Oh, the wigwams are always the Head Gardeners domain, I don't know where she got this technique from, but it works.
