A couple of days ago I wrote about the vegetables we have been harvesting, and eating (if you missed it please go to http://marigoldgarden.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/what-we-have-been-harvesting-in-last-6.html). However, one vegetable mentioned there, but not illustrated in any way, was asparagus, or the "forbidden" vegetable - well, the Head Gardener is lucky to have it all to herself, and actually after 3 years of tending to this bed, it's nice that she can finally eat the fruit of the labour of love. There were about 15-20 plants, and she is still eating from our "home supplies". I can't remember us having had to wait 3 years before for a vegetable to be finally available for harvesting and eating. One expects this with fruit trees (more about that in a post on our lovely cherry tree - still probably 1 further year to wait :-(), but not with vegetables.
