| Path created from recycled bricks (border) and gravel (from friends), March 2014 |
In the last couple of years, since we have had the greenhouse, sometimes a combination of wet weather and having to water plants in our greenhouse meant that the last steps on the (then) lawn to the greenhouse were very slippery. The Head Gardener suggested a path, and I was also happy as it means less mowing - mowing all our lawn still takes me over 1 hour, so... Anyway, in the end two good friends of ours got rid of a lot of gravel, and with some recycled bricks (we got them several years ago), we created this path. The gravel is only about 10-15cms deep, and under neath there is a black, plastic sheet, to keep the weeds/grass off; but I guess that in 3-5 years we will see weeds and grass growing there too - ah well, until then a good path to enlightenment.

This has been one of the many projects for 2014 (creating paths, and widening
vegetables beds), and we also have had about 30-40 bags of gravel in front of our house, and in the garden - so they have started to be emptied. More paths to come...
