Eaten, or Nuneaton?

For a couple of weeks now we have been able to supplement our daily hot meals with some own produce, and I thought that I'd give you an update what we are currently harvesting. I distinctively remember writing the post Chard: the end of the season in May, and we have already started eating the new chard for the last 4ish weeks. This makes chard a really perfect vegetable. Depending on the weather you can almost have 9-10 months of a harvest, and it easily can be added to most kind of dishes, and the stems (ours are yellow or magenta) are nice to look at.

Then we have been eating home-grown salad, and adding corn salad (Feldsalat) to the mix of other salad varities quite regularly. A big winner, probably this year's weather helped, have been our mange tout (snow peas, Zuckererbsen) plants this year.

The nice thing is that the planting of the mange tout  next to the fruit cage has really worked very well: the plant has nicely grown up the side of the cage. Oh, and finally, we are currently self-sufficient when it comes to (red) onions. I will go through some of the fruit in another post.
