Aspiring to eating asparagus

In April 2013, the Head Gardener managed to harvest her first piece of asparagus. In a post in April 2012 we documented that we had planted our asparagus plants in a raised bed. In one year they grew a lot, but - for those of you "in the know" - this lovely green plant takes 3 years before one can harvest them properly; so having 1 plant in April 2013 made the HG very happy indeed. I don't have a current photo to hand, but obviously the plants themselves have grown more, and also keeled over more (wind, etc.). However, it seems that they like what we have done for them, so hopefully next year the HG will be able to enjoy more asparagus.
