When folks are foolish enough to ask me about our garden, one way or another I usually end up listing the vegetables and fruit we are fortunuate enough to grow (whereas - due to the rainy and cold June and July we aren't really blessed with fruit, we or at least sainted with vegetables ;-)). Most soon then get this "glazed eyes" look on their face - okay the list is a bit loong, but that's not my fault, since they asked and I'm keeping things as factual and short as possible. ;-) However, the test whether someone is still listening, is often when I mention that we grow sweet corn. As if that was difficult to grow; however, most folks assume it is. Let's say, from having grown them for several years, it's hard and difficult. Eh? Well, there doesn't seem to be much you can do, once they are planted, apart from water. If you are unlucky the will get infested by something, if you are lucky they won't. Anyway, this year's lot is looking good - so far, so good!
And finally: ""Dry August and warm, Doth harvest no harm" (from Weather lore; a collection of proverbs, sayings, and rules concerning the weather, p. 38)
