acer update

Our lovely acer tree is doing marvellously, so here are some pics of it. I loooooove it! Definitely was the right decision. I can't wait to see how it will develop over the summer and the autumn.

In other gardening news: things are sprouting like crazy! It's great. I just love this time of year, when everything is growing away, and the insects haven't started eating them yet. The carrots, shallots and scorzonera (it's a bit like a parsnip, okay?) I sowed in the bed a few weeks ago are now appearing. The brassicas, sweetcorn, flowers, and more peas (and probably something else I forgot) are zinging away in the greenhouse. The tomatoes are growing like crazy and will need putting into their growbags soon.

There have been a few small gardening disasters though: I overwatered the cucumbers :-(  So they died :-( :-( :-(  I've planted new seeds now and they have just come up, so I will look after them much more carefully. I'm just hoping they are not too late to do much now. Cucumbers are tricky little sods - they sulk if they get too much water, they sulk if they get too little water. Gah!

A few other things have keeled over too: a pepper, the chillies. Some seeds haven't germinated (yet), but hey, the spring is still young (ish).
